ENERGY FIRM SUPPORT LABS CONTRACTION IN LINDI

As part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR), Pan African Energy Tanzania has donated 1,500 bags of cement worth 18m/- to Kilwa District Council for construction of secondary schools science laboratory in Lindi Region.
Speaking at the handover ceremony in Kilwa District, Lindi Region, Pan African Energy (T) Ltd, CSR Manager, Mr. Andrew Kashangaki, said the donation was aimed at supporting the district to have science laboratories for secondary schools before end of the month, as per President Jakaya Kikwete’s directive.
“The company’s investments are found in the southern regions, thus it falls as part of our responsibility to provide support to the surrounding communities, in particular to enhance the quality of education and health services,” he said.
He said a part from promoting the quality of education, Pan African Energy Tanzania also built a hospital to serve at Nangurukuru, to serve most of the populations of the surrounding area.
On his part, the Acting Kilwa District Commissioner (DC), Mr Peter Malekela, said the cement donation will help in creating science experts whose skills are vital for the country’s development. He said the bags of cement have been distributed to 24 secondary schools located at Kilwa District where 59 science labs needed to be erected.
Some of the schools that received the donation include Kikanda, Kandawale, Miguruwe, Kiranjeranje, Nakiu, Likawale, Namayuni and Kibata.
Pan African Energy Tanzania is the first natural gas producer, supplying gas for power generation at the Ubungo Power Plant in Dar es Salaam.
Pan African Energy also supplies natural also supplies natural gas to 38 industrial and commercial customers in Dar es Salaam area, reducing their operating costs and contributing to Tanzania’s industrial growth.
